Reek Sunday, 26th July 2009

Sunday morning, about 11am (late, I know! ) as we headed for Reek sunday on Croagh Patrick. After collecting my daughter, we set out for the 2 hour drive to Mayo. Beautiful country side but full of rain all the way. Luckly I was able to snooze most of the journey there, Thanks Guys!

We pasted all the stands of climbing sticks and rosary beads to the long path up.

The ground was wet with loose stones and people comming up and down in lines that you had to zigzag around . Lots of rests and panting later and we were told we were 2/3rd up by the great civil defence group.

The lads went up the cone for the finish but child of mine wouldnt budge so between crying, coaxing with chocolate biscuits and waiting under the kind ORDER OF MALTA shelter, we left and went back down.

Lots of people told us that going down was going to be hard- but no...!! i didnt think so. Of course , if you were in high heels, they would have a point! ahem

But here are some of the pic`s I took of the bare foot people - Bravo!

and well done.

A view from the top going down....
